You can safely update to 1.18.1, as it’s backwards compatible with 1.18.

Note on security: Our network is running 1.18 for now, but with the security fix from 1.18.1 back ported.

Simply put: UPDATE YOUR GAME CLIENT TO 1.18.1 AND JOIN AS USUAL! 😄

I'd like to add that I've updated the network to 1.18.1 in the meantime. This version is also safe from Log4j attacks, natively so, without back porting required. To be clear, 1.18 was also safe thanks to a back port patch. Anyway, nothing changed for you. This info is just for completeness’ sake.
